Malaysian Enterprises Recognised at 2025 Shell LiveWIRE Global Top Ten Innovators Awards

  • Materials in Works and Reclimate Sdn. Bhd. secure top honours in the Environmental Sustainability category.
  • Satu Creative, Shell LiveWIRE Malaysia’s implementing partner, also named runner-up for its role in supporting local entrepreneurs.

Two Malaysian companies, Materials in Works and Reclimate Sdn. Bhd., have been recognised at the 2025 Shell LiveWIRE global Top Ten Innovators Awards, winning the grand prize and runner-up position respectively in the Environmental Sustainability category. The awards, which highlight entrepreneurial excellence in innovation, were announced in Kuala Lumpur on May 7, 2025.

Materials in Works was named the winner for its approach to transforming hard-to-recycle industrial waste into repurposed materials. Founder John Ooi commented, “Winning this prestigious Top 10 Innovators award is a powerful validation of the company’s mission of turning what the world sees as waste into a valuable resource. This recognition fuels our drive to scale sustainable innovation and inspire a new era of circular economy to the world.”

Reclimate Sdn. Bhd. earned the runner-up spot for its work with farming communities to convert agricultural waste into biochar and provide access to carbon markets through digital tools. Annamalai Thani, COO of Reclimate, said, “Being named a Shell Top Ten Innovators winner is a powerful affirmation of our mission at Reclimate and this recognition strengthens our commitment to environmental innovation that drives real, lasting impact for both people and the planet.”

Satu Creative, the implementing partner for Shell LiveWIRE Malaysia, was also recognised as a runner-up for its support in empowering aspiring entrepreneurs. Ahmad Azuar Zainuddin, CEO of Satu Creative, stated, “It’s a true honour for us to receive this award and we are proud to stand alongside an incredible group of implementation partners who are each doing meaningful, transformative work in their own communities.”

Category winners received USD20,000, while runners-up were awarded USD10,000 in equity-free funding. Implementing Partner Award recipients will attend the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) Global Conference in Mexico this September.

The Shell LiveWIRE Top Ten Innovators programme recognises entrepreneurs within the Shell LiveWIRE network who are driving positive change through social impact, environmental sustainability, and business innovation. This year’s awards spanned four continents, underscoring the global reach of the initiative.
