Gentari and Mastercard Collaborate on EV Adoption Initiative

- Companies sign MoU to explore digital payment solutions for electric vehicle charging
- Partnership aims to support Malaysia’s sustainability goals and low carbon mobility blueprint
Gentari Sdn Bhd, through its subsidiary Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, and Mastercard have announced a collaboration to promote electric vehicle (EV) adoption in Asia Pacific. The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding on December 17, 2024, to explore opportunities in advertising, marketing, and digital payment solutions for EV charging.
Collaboration Details
The partnership aims to implement secure and enhanced digital payment solutions to promote inclusive EV adoption in public transportation and support carbon reduction efforts. Gentari, a clean energy solutions provider, operates a network of EV charging stations across Malaysia, Thailand, and India.

Mastercard will contribute its digital payment capabilities and expertise in providing convenient payment solutions in the mobility sector. The company has previously worked on urban mobility solutions globally, including a universal payment-terminal solution for EV charging in Europe. The collaboration supports the Malaysian government’s Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint 2021-2030 and National Energy Transition Roadmap. These initiatives are part of the country’s sustainability agenda, which includes EV advancement and aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
