DayOne Breaks Ground on First Hyperscale Data Center in Singapore

  • 20MW data center, powered fully by renewable energy through a partnership with Sembcorp Power.
  • Launched a new R&D collaboration with NUS, supporting the Sustainable Tropical Data Center Testbed Phase 2.0

DayOne has commenced construction on its first hyperscale data center in Singapore, the company announced at a groundbreaking ceremony attended by government and industry leaders on July 25, 2025. The facility, designed with a capacity of 20 megawatts and spanning approximately 40,000 square meters, is expected to become ready for service in 2026.

The data center will support high-density GPU workloads and incorporate both air and liquid cooling systems. According to DayOne, it is anticipated to be the first in Singapore to feature on-site solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) power generation in a pilot focused on hydrogen-based energy, aiming to diversify energy sources for the sector and contribute to national sustainability goals. The company plans to apply for LEED Platinum and BCA Green Mark Platinum (GMDC:2024) certifications for the new facility.

DayOne has partnered with Sembcorp Power under a Power Purchase Agreement to supply the facility with 100% renewable energy. Additionally, the company has launched a new research and development collaboration with the National University of Singapore (NUS), supporting the Sustainable Tropical Data Center Testbed Phase 2.0 (STDCT 2.0) to test cooling solutions and energy technologies in tropical environments.

“Congratulations to DayOne on its first data center in Singapore. Data center operators like DayOne play an important role in advancing energy efficiency and green energy solutions in support of our digital economy and the sustainable growth of data centers in Singapore,” said Aileen Chia of IMDA.

Singapore serves as DayOne’s headquarters and regional base. The company, established in 2022 and operating independently since 2025, also runs data centers in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong SAR, and additional regional markets.
